Spicy Seafood Dry Curry

Ingredients

  • 500 g cleaned prawns (medium size)
  • 2 large onions (finely chopped)
  • 2 medium tomatoes (finely chopped)
  • 1 tbsp ginger‑garlic paste
  • 1–2 green chillies (slit)
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1.5 tsp coriander powder

  • 1 tsp garam masala (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp sesame/gingelly oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • Few curry leaves
  • Fresh coriander leaves (to garnish)

Step-by-Step Instructions

🔹 Step 1: Marinate Prawns

Marinate prawns with turmeric, chilli powder & salt. Rest for 15 mins.


🔹 Step 2: Temper Spices

Heat oil, add mustard & cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add curry leaves & green chillies.

🔹 Step 3: Sauté Onions & Tomatoes

Add onions, sauté till translucent. Add tomatoes and ginger‑garlic paste, cook until oil separates.

🔹 Step 4: Add Spice Powders

Mix in chilli, coriander, and turmeric powders. Cook 1–2 mins until fragrant.

🔹 Step 5: Add Prawns

Add marinated prawns, mix well. Cook covered on medium for 10 mins (no extra water needed).

Add garam masala, adjust salt, cook on high until masala thickens and prawns are coated.

Garnish with fresh coriander. Serve hot with rice, dosa, idli, or roti.
