Mutton Pepper Fry Recipe – Spicy Chettinad Style
Mutton Pepper Fry is a fiery and flavorful South Indian dry dish made with tender mutton pieces, black pepper, curry leaves, and traditional Chettinad spices. Perfect for serving with steamed rice, rasam, or chapati.
📝 Ingredients:
- 500g mutton (bone-in)
- 2 onions – finely sliced
- 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 2 tsp black pepper (crushed)
- 1 tsp fennel seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp oil
- Salt to taste
🔥 Preparation Steps:
- Pressure cook mutton with salt, turmeric, and a little water for 4–5 whistles.
- In a pan, heat oil and add fennel, cumin, and curry leaves.
- Add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add ginger garlic paste and cook until raw smell disappears.
- Add the cooked mutton and sauté on high flame.
- Sprinkle crushed pepper and stir-fry until it coats the mutton well.
- Cook until oil separates. Serve hot!
